“College”… phew!!
Different people attribute different emotions to college; some see it strictly in academic terms, some of us see it as an opportunity to work upon ourselves and some consider it a five-year holiday package.
Whatever our view of the college experience maybe but one thing is certain, we do look forward to it! When we were in school, all of us have surely pestered our elder brothers or cousins or friend’s cousins to tell us about their college, how does it work? Do we get any homework? and most important of them all, “do we get to skip any classes?”. A college in itself is a whole new world. Vibrant personalities, impressionable minds, intimidating ideologues, dancers, sportspersons, fashionistas, you’ll find people belonging to every hue here. This experience also comes with a sense of independence, different genders get to interact with each other without their parents keeping an eye on them. But not only that sort of independence, it also gives you the independence to think, to challenge ideas, not only of others but also of your own. College is much more than what happens in the classrooms or the projects we submit, it is an exercise in personality development. The introverts force themselves to interact with their peers and step out of their comfort zones (it can be a very difficult experience), the extroverts learn how to keep quiet and not overshare and the ambiverts, well the ambiverts just do fine (what a blessing indeed!!). The moment we step inside the campus it becomes an opportunity for us to experience, to live that dream, whatever it might be and whatever it might mean to you. In the end, just two weeks at the college have taught me that college life is dynamic and not linear.
